Soothing Baby Reflux the Natural Way

You’ve just brought your perfect little baby home—only to realize something’s not right. Your little one is uncomfortable, fussy, and clearly struggling with digestion or reflux. The sleepless nights start stacking up, and all you want is to help them feel better—but where do you even begin?
If that sounds like you (or a new mama you love), keep reading. This one’s for you. Feel free to share it, too.

Our daughter started showing signs of discomfort early on, and we knew we had to support her in the gentlest way possible. We began with craniosacral therapy and chiropractic care, which made a big difference. I also cut out caffeine, gluten, sugar, and dairy from my diet—and that helped a lot, too.

If you’re in the thick of it, here’s some natural support that can help both you and your baby feel a little more at ease.

One of our go-to remedies? A simple homemade “tea” made with fennel seeds and bay leaves. I’d steep about 2–3 bay leaves and 1 teaspoon of fennel seeds in a cup of hot water. Our daughter responded best to the fennel, so we focused on that—giving her small amounts of the tea a couple of times a day using a dosing syringe. It made such a difference with her gas and digestion. Ugh, a true blessing. Just be sure to store it in a mason jar in the fridge—it’ll keep for up to a week.

Another tea that worked really well for her reflux came recommended by our trusted Ayurvedic doctor. It’s made with ½ teaspoon of ajwain seeds and ½ teaspoon of dill seeds steeped in a cup of hot water. We gave it the same way—just a few cc’s at a time using a dosing syringe—and stored it in a mason jar in the fridge for up to a week. Simple, effective, and soothing.

She also napped upright in a baby carrier and always slept on her side while co-sleeping with me—which honestly helped a lot, especially after she’d just eaten. Another game changer was switching her car seat to a more upright style. She went from screaming every minute in the car to actually enjoying the ride. Total relief. Here’s the car seat we used.

If you’re in the thick of it right now, just know—you’re not alone. Having a baby with reflux or digestive discomfort can feel overwhelming and exhausting, but there are gentle, natural ways to support their little system (and your nervous system, too).

Trust your gut. Try what feels right. And take it one day at a time.

I hope something here helps bring a little more ease to your days (and nights). If you found this helpful, feel free to share it with another mama who might need it.
